According to Gena, there are seven different types
and this type dictates who owns it and who has the records.
- Church
- Public
- Customary (neighborhood, rural)
- Private
- Lodge
- Ethnic
- Family
- Mass
Where can you locate a death? Land records, Military records, Journals, fraternal organization records, orphan court records are just a few ideas where to look outside of the traditional death certificates. Gena also cited many online resources to locate cemeteries and graves, plus symbolism on headstone artwork, sculptures and insignias.I loved this presentation, yet we are running out of time as the grand prize winners are being drawn now. This was such a great expo and I will follow up with more details tomorrow.
