Wondering what happened to July 30 and 31?

The AHSGR/GRHS joint convention is running like a historical society conference on steroids. So many fantastic speakers, workshop, and displays I am active from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. minimum. Last night I was going strong until midnight!

Unfortunately, in the rush of genealogy chasing, people meeting, question asking sessions, the blog has had to take a back seat. However, I have marvelous notes and pictures to come over the next couple of days.

One of my favorite highlights occurred this morning. I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Arthur Flegel, who is "the man" among Germans from Russia. Obviously, I couldn't pass up the photo opp and our picture is attached.

I couldn't do justice to explain everything Mr. Flegel has done for Germans from Russia, however I will provide a few links for your review including information regarding his recent Ellis Island Medal of Honor award.

Rest assured, there is plenty more to come from Casper.

I hope the conference is being well oiled by other substances than steroids, which I believe have been banned by the International Genealogical society for falsely inflating family trees. Signs of genealogical doping via the use of steroids can be found in excessive moss growth on family branches or suddenly finding ones family as the heirs to the Romanoff dynasty.
I would hope that the convention is being well oiled by the liberal use of Vodka, Jaegermeister, or a good lager that adheres to the German purity laws of the 14th century.
The views expressed in this comment are not necessarily the views of the commenter who has a tendency to be "well oiled" himself at times. And who has also been accused of being a dope if not of doping, itself.

While I have not made a connection to the Romanoff dynasty I have discovered a third or fourth cousin whose family stories coincide with my family stories. We spent the afternoon together and we still have much to continue to share. Also, my DNA sample is on its way to the lab!
